To kick off the trip to Asia by the President of Germany, Christian Wulff, the Indonesian religious leaders have complained of violations of religious freedom in the country.
The chairman of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia, Andreas Yewangoe, criticized during a visit to the Research Association on "Religion and Politics" at the University of Munster for the attacks by militant groups on churches and mosques of the Ahmadiyya community.
Yewangoe asked Wulff to discuss details of the research by the network when he speak with Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhonyowo on Monday about the observance of human rights and the lack of criminal action.
The German head of state who is on a six-day visit in Bangladesh since Monday and is expected in Indonesia on Wednesday.
In the predominantly Muslim Indonesia, Islamic extremist militants have repeatedly committed violence against Christians and followers of the Ahmadiyya.
Of the approximately 230 million Indonesians are about seven million Catholics and 18 million Protestants.
