SHEDDING light on the true teachings of the Koran is the main focus of a Cranbourne exhibition this weekend.
Organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Victoria, member Naureen Chaudhry said the group wanted to remove fears and misconceptions about the book.
“It’s a sacred scripture and we should teach it with respect, but Koran is a scripture just like all others and it should be studied and investigated,’’ Ms Chaudhry said.
“People who attend the exhibition will learn the Koran teaches to practice peace, moderation, love and life and that god is all loving and caring.’’
Ms Chaudhry said the exhibition would feature two lectures, artworks inspired by the Koran, interactive teachings on the book and a display of Islamic artifacts.
She encouraged the community to attend.
“It’s open to all faith groups, any church, place of worship, anyone and everyone is welcome,’’ she said.
The free event will be held at Chisholm Cranbourne, New Holland Drive, on Saturday, December 3, from 10.30am-4pm.
Those who are keen on the lectures need to register. Phone Ms Choudhry on 9704 6857 or Imran Ahmad on 0432 245 382 or email quranexhibitionvictoria@yahoo.com
