DOZENS of Muslim volunteers helped Croydon get a clean start to the new year
Volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Croydon (AMAC) hit the town centre early Monday morning.
Group spokesman Kai Pokawa said: "While our brothers are celebrating Christmas, we wanted to do something to contribute to the community. We picked litter and swept up. It was a fantastic event and we had a great response from passers-by."
AMAC has 4,000 adult members and conducts community activities including collecting for the annual poppy appeal.
Founded in late 19th century India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a minority sect with the motto "Love for all, hatred for none".
