On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community-Miami, we strongly condemn the senseless shooting of the worshipers gathered at the Gurdwara (temple) in the city of Oak Creek, Wis.

Our hearts are filled with sorrow and grief as we mourn the loss of innocent lives.

We vehemently condemn this brutality and act of hatred. This barbaric attack is not only against the Sikh community; rather it's a crime against the whole of mankind. The Holy Quran says, "Whosoever killed a person..., it shall be as if he had killed all mankind (5:33)."

This tragedy was fueled by ignorance and lack of tolerance. Americans predominantly embrace pluralistic ideals, but this incident demonstrates that more and urgent attention needs to be paid to religious education in order to foster a more tolerant and peaceful society.

We extend our prayers, condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and the entire Sikh community, and hope that justice will be established.
