QADIAN: It is amusing to hear names like Krishan Ahmad, Gautam Ahmad, Nanak Ahmad. These reflect the secular nature of Ahmadiyyas.
An elderly resident of Qadian, Khursheed Ahmad Parbhakar, who retired as a teacher, told TOI on Saturday that, "Our faith teaches us to treat everyone equal and respect each others religion."
Khursheed has named one of his son as Krishan Ahmad while another son's name is Israeel Ahmad. He said there was nothing unusual in giving Hindu names to sons in Ahmadiyyas. He said the founder of Ahmadiyya had also recognized the noble teachings of the great religious founders and saints, including Zoroaster, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, Confucius, Lao Tzu and Guru Nanak and explained how such teachings converged into the one true Islam.
Krishan Ahmad, who runs a shop, said he is proud of his Hindu-Muslim name. Even during the Jalsa Salana, the participants raise slogans like "Hazrat Krishan", "Hazrat Ram Chander ji ki jai".
Giving example of Ahmadiyyas' concern for other communities Syed Tufail Ahmad, a community leader said after 1989 Hindu-Muslims riots in Bhagalpur, Bihar, Ahmadiyyas had constructed two blocks for affected Hindus and Muslims. "The Muslim block was named Krishan Nagar while the Hindu residential block was named Tahir Nagar," he added.
Even in Qadian where Mohalla Ahmadiyya is situated there are other residential colonies with the name of Krishan Nagar, Sant Nagar etc.
