As the UK braces itself for a snowy weekend, young Muslims across the country are on stand-by with salt and snow shovels to help ease any disruption caused.
Since the snow showers of 2010, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) have come together to ensure that their neighbours and people driving or walking through their neighbourhoods do so safely.
Members of the AMYA, stationed across the UK, will be clearing streets and driveways, assisting motorists and helping the elderly with their shopping.
The group will also be offering tea and coffee to stranded motorists and setting up a soup kitchens to provide some much needed warmth and nutrition for the homeless sleeping in sub zero temperatures.
This will be the latest initiative of the AMYA's year long campaign to help those in need and raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for a number of UK charities.
Adam Walker, AMYA's National Spokesperson, said:
''This year marks the 100 year centenary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United Kingdom and we take great joy in the fact that we have been running these kinds of initiatives since our arrival in this great land. 'The Prophet Muhammad was sent as a Mercy for the whole of mankind and so we try to seek every opportunity to help others.
"Anyone in need of help during these hazardous conditions can count on our support.''
AMYA volunteer, Faheen Rahman, said: “I have elderly grandparents and I’d hope that someone would visit them and make sure they are safe, much in the same way we do with our elderly neighbours when the cold weather hits.”
