CHINO - About 150 Ahmadi Muslim men are expected to attend a weekend Leadership Conference at the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino.
The three-day event will start at 5 a.m. Friday with prayers and end Sunday after the combined Zuhr and Asr prayers at 1:30 p.m. at the mosque, 11941 Ramona Ave.
The conference focuses on instilling and improving leadership skills in members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community who have reached the age of 40 and older. These members, called Ansars, which is Arabic for "helpers," have the responsibility to guide and mentor the younger members of the community.
They do this by example and through their religious training, wisdom, and life and work experience.
And, since most have families where many of their children are now married with families of their own, the Ansars are doubly committed to doing all they can to help themselves, their families and their fellow Ansars be the best Muslims and leaders in their mosques, homes and communities.
Along with speeches on "How to be a Good Leader" by Rizwan Alladin and "The Ansars' Responsibility to the Next Generation" by Imam Shamshad A. Nasir, there will be seminars and discussion groups on topics such as: moral training of our children, correct recitation of the Quran, how to do effective preaching, and maintaining good health.
The national cabinet meeting begins Friday with registration for the full weekend conference is at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Baitul Hameed Mosque.
Those interested in attending should contact Imam Shamshad: 909-636-8332 or 909-627-2252.
