The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Nigeria has backed ongoing moves by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration to begin a dialogue with the Boko Haram sect.
On the heels of terror campaigns recorded in some parts of the country, the Muslim society insisted that the meaning and greeting of Islam is peace and, therefore, Islam prohibits violence in whatsoever and for whatsoever reason.
The disclosures were contained in communiqué issued after a two-day Jalsa Tarbiyyah programme (conference on moral and religious education) for her members in northern Nigeria with the theme “The Attainment of National Peace and Security through Islam”.
The seven-point communiqué signed by Naib Amir and Dr. Y. A. Habeeb and made available to LEADERSHIP noted that peace and security would reign in the country when there is willingness on the part of the government to administer the country with justice and equity as well as make conscious effort to reduce the level of poverty and unemployment in the society.
