Ahmadiyya Muslims are gathering today for the inauguration of their largest mosque in BC.
The Baitur Rahman Mosque in Delta is now the largest Ahmadiyya Mosque in BC.
Lal Khan Malik, from Toronto, is the national president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
He says their branch makes up only 1% of the entire Muslim religion. Malik says the main difference between his denomination and other Muslim denominations is that his denounces the use of force under all circumstances.
That's why he says it is upsetting when a terrorist actis carried out by a Muslim extremist and all Muslims are blamed.
"When something happens for which all Muslims are held responsible for, it is the most difficult thing we have to handle. Members of the public feel that all Muslims are like the ones they have seen on the media doing things against humanity. It is frustrating because we stand for peace and we promote peace."
Malik says there are about 2000 Ahmadiyya Muslims in BC and about 30,000 in Canada.
