Switzerland: The oldest mosque in Switzerland celebrates 50 years in Zurich
50 years ago, the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Pakistan Muhammad Zafrullah Khan himself an Ahmadi, inaugurated the mosque in the residential Balgrist.

The Mahmud Mosque in Zurich organizes 50 years anniversary festival Saturday.
The Mahmoud Mosque - the oldest in Switzerland - was inaugurated June 22, 1963 in Zurich.
This Saturday, local Ahmadiyya community invites the public to an open house in the presence of political and religious representatives.
The official ceremony of the Jubilee takes place in a hotel at the other end of the city, in the Altstetten district.
The community says the mosque - a cube-shaped building with two floors and 18 meters high minaret - will remain be open to the public throughout the day,.

The mayor at the time, Emil Landolt, had attended the event.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was founded in 1889. On the reformist persuasion, it is not recognized by the Muslim orthodoxy. Pacifists, members reject hatred and violence based on religion.
