Perspective: Do we ever learn?

PTI is supporting Mollah and consider him as Shaheed-e-Pakistan, which is amazing. PTI should ask Mollah’s family first if they want to be associated with Pakistan any more before labeling him Pakistani.

It is such a childish view of the world by some members of our political elite praising Jama't-e Islami (JI) leader Mollah. Didn't we Pakistanis already know that massive atrocities were perpetrated in the name of Pakistan by Armed forces and allied minority parties in East Pakistan?

Yes, we need to find a way forward but not by denying acts of brutalities in our history.

Our present is very much a manifest witness to our attitudes quite the same when dealing with such issues today. People go and kill Christians, Ahmadis and Shias even if a religious leader without proof may only state that a Christian has burnt some Quranic verses, or Ahmadi has read Quran or a Shia has said something about companions of prophet Muhammad.

We consider every problem faced by Pakistan today as a conspiracy by US, Jews or 'Qadianis' rather finding its real causes.

Pakistan Tehrik-e Insaf (PTI) is supporting Mollah and consider him as Shaheed-e-Pakistan, which is amazing. PTI should ask Mollah’s family first if they want to be associated with Pakistan any more before labeling him Pakistani.

Pakistanis did commit huge blunders both politically and militarily in East Pakistan leading to violence and war. The countries, both Pakistan and Bangladesh, have moved on since then however, we must admit those mistakes and rectify our attitudes.

One among those attitudes is to admit that religious parties have resorted to violence more often than others and must be condemned for this. JI has such a hisotry under its belt both in East Pakistan and West Pakistan.

  1. Pakistani Government under the pressure of religious extremist and so called Mullahs has shown sympathy with Mullah Kadir in Bangladesh. The Mullahs and in Pakistani have fear that such acts of punishment and righteousness may happened in Pakistan as well.
