Ghana: Maulvi Wahab Adam to be buried on Wednesday

Accra, June, 23, GNA - The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, has fixed Wednesday, June 25, as the burial date of Maulvi Dr Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary In-charge of the Mission in Ghana.

Maulvi Mohammed Bin Saih, Acting Ameer of the Mission, who made this known in Accra on Monday, said the late leader would be buried at Ahmadiyya Cemetery at Kasoa in the Central Region.

A book of condolences has being opened at the Mission Headquarters at Osu, Accra.

Maulvi Adam passed away on Sunday June 22 at 11am at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a protracted illness.

The first to sign the book of condolences was Alhaji Issifu Ali, former Co-chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and member of Ahmadiyya Mission.

Mr Vitus Azeem, Executive Director of Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) also led a seven-member delegation to sign the book.

Other members of the mission who were around to sign the book were Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, a member of the Council of State and former Minister of Defence, Dr Mohammed Musheibu Alfa, Deputy Minister of Environment, Science and Innovation and Mr K.T. Hammond, Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa.

Mr Azeem in an interview with the media said Maulvi Adam was a man of peace and that his relationship with other religious leaders was promising.

He said the late Maulvi Adam was a member of the GII and that his death is a big loss to the initiative GII and the nation at large.

"Maulvi Adam will forever be remembered for his vision, integrity and hard work."

Mr Daniel Owusu Koranteng, General Secretary of Maritime and Dock Workers Union, who also signed the book, noted that Maulvi Adam was a person who supported and took care of the poor as well as orphans.

He also encouraged every individual who came his way.

"I was a teacher at the Ahmadiyya Islamic School in the Eastern Region and had never heard any staff of the school talk bad about Maulvi Adam till I left the school."

Commander Ali Kamal-Deen, Naval Commander and member of the Mission said the late Maulvi Adam served the nation and mankind at large and was respected for his support to   members of the mission.

Apostle Samuel Teye-Doku, President of the Council of Independent Churches said: "Man cannot live forever and Maulvi Adam has done what is expected of him to mankind."

Sheikh I.C. Quaye, Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, described the late Maulvi Wahab Adam as a man of peace and counted his engagements in the maintenance of peace in the country, especially, at the National Peace Council.
