Islamic Heritage Festival and Parade was celebrated by Philadelphia area Muslims on Saturday, June 14, 2014.

It is an annual event which was celebrated this year on the Flag Day.

The parade participants lined up on 4th Street and started the parade at 4th and Chestnut Streets at 1:30 PM.  The participants included Jawala Scouts, CAIR Philadelphia, Prison Reform Ministry, Moorish Science Temple of America and Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Philadelphia.  It included young and old, men and women, and people from different walks of life.

The parade participants walked on the Chestnut Street towards the Penn’s Landing.  The large Kalima (Islamic creed) banner carried by AMC was visible from far along with the banner giving the message of peace, “Love for All, Hatred for None.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community procession included cars with magnetic sticker containing an American flag and the web address www.alislam.org of the community.  In addition, the parade included bicycles with banners attached to them and also the banners carrying trailer displaying the Ahmadiyya message of peace.

As the day was celebrated on the Flag Day, AMC gave out free American flags with the stickers attached giving the same message of peace as the magnetic stickers.  The flags were received with great pride and enthusiasm.

At the book stall the community gave out free helium balloons with Kalima and Ahmadiyya logo on it which were very popular among kids.

The parade concluded on the riverfront at Penn’s Landing which was decorated by 5 different banners giving the message of Islam and Ahmadiyyat.
