An Auckland mosque is opening its doors to the public in an attempt to rid people of their misconceptions about Islam.

Manukau's Ahmadiyya Muslim Community says the stereotype of the mosque being a hub of incitement is quite wrong.

National Vice President Bashir Khan wants to show people what really goes on.

"This is what mosque is. Come and visit us, have a look at what it is, what we do and learn more about what true Islam should be."

Mr Khan says the view that all Muslims incite violence is incorrect.

"We'd like to basically ensure that we pass the true message of Islam and removing that particular stereotype."

The open day is on tomorrow between 10am and 4pm.
