LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Friday sought comments from the Civil Lines SHO on a petition seeking the registration of a blasphemy case against three people including a former Lahore High Court judge.

Petitioner Qari Rafique sought a case against Justice Islam Bhatti, author of the allegedly blasphemous book Adalat-i-Alia Tak ka Safar, Muhammad Shoaib, who published the book, and Ahmad Tahir who compiled it. Rafique said the book had been written to incite religious unrest and hurt the sentiments of Muslim.

He said on June 11, he informed the police and had copies of the book confiscated. He said the former judge had committed blasphemy by writing the book and the rest through association with it.

He sought a direction for police to register a case against the suspects. The court sought comments from the SHO by June 16.
