“''If some of the local people are unhappy and feel the Iraqi Government has been unjust and cruel, it still does not justify any form of terrorism or extremism in response.....
The life of the Prophet Muhammad, the holy founder of Islam who such terrorists claim to represent, is filled only with countless examples of peace, tolerance, respect, and a deep love for humanity.”
– His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad

Muslims across the Midlands will meet at 13:00 today to listen to a speech by a prominent Muslim leader condemning the actions of extremist group ISIS.

The worldwide head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC), His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad, will deliver the speech from Western Europe's largest mosque in Morden in London.

His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has said,

“''The actions and statements of ISIS and other extremists who pretend to represent Islam, whilst all the while spreading hatred and violence, run entirely contrary to the peaceful teachings of Islam.”

Each Friday he gives a sermon to 5,000 worshipers and it is also broadcast live and watched by 80 million people around the world.

Today tens of thousands of worshippers will gather at the mosque in Morden and at mosques around the country, including Birmingham Central Mosque.

It's thought he will talk about the risks involved with fighting Jihad in countries such as Syria and Iraq.

ISIS is a Jihadist group currently moving through Iraq making military gains.

There are concerns that some young Muslims from the Midlands may be leaving the country to join the fighting force in the Middle East.

This week the Head of West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, Detective Chief Superintendent Sue Southern, addressed Imams and religious leaders at Birmingham Central Mosque, asking for help in preventing radicalisation.

The Muslim community is urging ISIS to use the holy month of Ramadan to put an end to hostilities.
