The MTA said Friday it would not allow a hateful ad by an anti-Islamic group to run on city buses, and said it might spark violent attacks on Jewish people.

The American Freedom Defense Initiative is running several incendiary ads next week that include an image of James Foley before he was executed and one that compares a Muslim civil liberties group to Hamas.

The ad the MTA is forbidding has a quote that reads “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah,” and attributes it to Hamas MTV.

It then reads, “That’s His Jihad. What’s yours?”

The MTA’s director of Safety and Security Raymond Riaz said the image could incite violence in New York City, particularly because of the turmoil in Gaza, Syria, and Iraq.

A federal court ruling in 2012 said that under the First Amendment, the MTA can’t block a proposed ad if it is controversial.

But it can stop those that might cause violence or harm its operations.

Meanwhile, Governor Cuomo said Friday the state was beefing up the law-enforcement presence at major transit hubs like Penn Station and Central, including more bag checks and K-9s.

“While we have not received any credible threats, New York City is an international symbol of toleranc and resilience, and therefore continues to be a top target for terrorists,” he said in a statement.
