Port Dover has been chosen as one of 33 spots in Canada for an open house by a national group wanting to dispel the negative image of Muslims.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association will be at the Port Dover Public Library on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. to meet the public.
“The purpose of the open house will be to educate people about the true teachings of Islam, to battle Islamophobia and show people that Islam does not support nor promote terrorism,” the group said in a media release.
The group says it will have free copies of the Holy Quran available and will explain “what the Holy Quran truly teaches about” issues such as freedom of speech and blasphemy.
