Perspective: Pope understands Muslim view on cartoons | Khullat Alladin


To paraphrase, if you curse someone's mother, be prepared to get socked. I believe Pope Francis, a man of God, is endorsing only respectful portrayals of religious personalities.

Muslims have been racking their brains about how to best explain how our sensibilities are injured by attacks on the prophet Muhammad. Islam forbids revenge for the spoken or written word.

Pope Francis summed it up in words understandable to all ["Pontiff backs free speech -- with limits," News, Jan. 16]. To paraphrase, if you curse someone's mother, be prepared to get socked. I believe Pope Francis, a man of God, is endorsing only respectful portrayals of religious personalities.
