The Ahmadiyya Muslim community of Indonesia issued a statement today about the disruption of security and obstruction of religious worship at Masjid An-Nur, of the Jama'at Ahmadiyya Bukit Duri, South Jakarta, on Friday, June 12, 2015 and again on Sunday June 15, 2015 by the members of an extremist group.

According to the statement, issued by Aryudi Prastowo, Chairman of the Ahmadiyya Bukit Duri chapter, the community said it believes strongly the local DKI Government under the leadership of Mr. Ahok is able to uphold the  Pancasila principle and the 1945 Constitution including the right of every citizen to worship according to their respective beliefs as part of the freedom of religion.

Mr Prastowo said the Ahmadiyya An-Nur Mosque in Bukit Duri has existed since the 1980s and for more than 30 years there were never any problems with the local citizens. He further declared that the Ahmadiyya An-Nur Mosque is also open to the public just like the other mosques.

"We are always open - and open to dialogue with all parties that will contribute to creating an atmosphere of civilized social life, harmony and mutual respect," the statement said. "We also hope that the local government, through Mayor of South Jakarta, will facilitate our dialogue with Mr. Shakir who has been hindering us from praying and worship at Masjid Bukit Duri."

The Ahmadiyya leader said he believes the Indonesian National Police will assert their professional attitude in ensuring fair and firm security for all citizens against any form of violence, spread of hate speech, and disturbance of the public order. "So that we can carry out all forms of Muslim worship at An Nur Mosque in Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta, as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)."
