India: Eid celebrated with fervor in Qadian, Punjab

Qadian: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with enthusiasm and traditional fervor in many parts of Punjab, including here in Qadian today.

Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Maulana Inam Gauri led the Eid prayers at international headquarters of Ahmadiyya Muslim community at Qadian town in Gurdaspur district.

Thousands of Muslim men, women and children, dressed in their best, made their way to Masjid Aqsa where special arrangements were made to offer prayers.

Maulana Ghori highlighted the importance of countless lessons learned from fasting during the month of Ramadan. Chief Secretary said Eid-ul-Fitr is a joyous day and it is celebrated to give thanks for the blessings of Ramadan.

After the Eid sermon, Maulana Gaurihe raised his hands for silent prayers.

In many places people from all walks of life participated in the prayers and greeted their Muslim brothers on the occasion.

According to Press Trust of India, the BSF personnel deployed on duty also took part in the Eid prayers at different mosques in Punjab.

Sweets were distributed among the people to mark the occasion and a special banquet was arranged for the Eid participants at Langar Khana in Qadian.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam.

Founded in 1889 in Qadian, India, the Community spans 206 countries with membership exceeding 160 millions.
