Canada: National Islamic Convention to draw thousands of Muslims

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at to host Canada’s largest Islamic Convention given the global unrest within the Muslim Community

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at will host Canada’s largest Islamic Convention on August 28, 29 and 30 at the International Centre in the Greater Toronto Area. The three-day event will attract tens of thousands from across Canada and abroad, providing a unique spiritual experience through scholarly lectures, discussions and special exhibitions. This year the convention aims to tackle controversial topics of contemporary relevance, such as the rise of global terrorist organizations and the apparent conflict between freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Scholarly lectures and discussions, along with the keynote address, which will delve into the true, peaceful teachings of Islam and expound on the compatibility of Islam and the West.

Along with thousands of Canadians from different walks of life, the convention attracts government officials, diplomats and various media outlets.

The President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada, Mr. Lal Khan Malik conveyed his invitation to Canadians, “With the ongoing initiatives and efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada, this convention comes at a critical juncture given the unrest in the global Muslim community.” Mr. Malik went on to say, “Through this convention we hope to answer the various questions and controversies often associated to Islam.”

The annual convention is taking place on August 28, 29, 30, at the International Center located at 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga, ON L4V 1E8.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 200 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions.
