A VICIOUS attack has rocked members of a Langwarrin Muslim community centre.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man entered the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Association centre on September 4 about 9pm and started yelling abuse before a fight broke out.

A 61-year-old man had his nose broken and other received other facial injuries during the altercation.

Carrum Downs Police Senior Sergeant Ron Barbury said three male victims — 61, 60 and 45 — were at the Leisureland Drive centre at the time of the incident.

“The offender ran in and started screaming obscenities at the men,’’ Sgt Barbury said.

“They then indicated for him to leave and followed him out the door only to be met by two other men outside.

“A fight then ensued and the victims were physically assaulted.’’

Sgt Barbury said it was “clearly a targeted attack”.

“They obviously had an agenda,’’ he said.

“You would need to know it was there, it’s quiet, hidden and secluded, you don’t go past it by chance.

“Whether they like it or not, we have a lot of different religions and races in our community, the important thing is that we all live in the community harmoniously. Targeting a particular group of people for whatever reason is pointless and wrong.’’

The three offenders are described as in their early 20s, caucasian and wearing hooded jumpers.
