The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Metro Detroit in Rochester Hills on Sunday, Oct. 25, will attend Christian services at City Light Church after youth groups from both churches met at the Festival of the Hills celebration over the summer.

During the popular event on June 24, the youth groups had booths set up next to each other and became fast friends, said officials with the association.

About 10 to 15 members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association at 10 a.m. Sunday will be taking a field trip to City Light Church with a focus on better understanding the Christian faith.

“We may not share the same faith as our Christian neighbors, but that doesn’t mean we cannot have a relationship or friendship with them,” says Adeel Ahmed, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association of Metro Detroit.

“Our goal is to fulfill our obligations toward God and our fellow man. And here we have a chance to build a bridge with our fellow man.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is a nationwide youth group that works with young Muslim men and boys in 60 different locations around the country.
