A two member delegation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at (AMJ) Sri Lanka visited major schools in Colombo city to donate Sinhala translation of the Holy Qur’an on Thursday, November 5, 2015.

AMJ Sri Lanka's Chief Missionary, Moulavi A.B. Musthaq Ahmad, and National Director of Faith Outreach, A. Abdul Aziz, visited St. Joseph’s College along with two top Buddhist Schools, Ananda College and Nalanda College, where they received warm welcome and presented copies of the Sinhala translation of the Holy Qur’an. They presented also copies of the Peace Message in English and Sinhala to the school administrations.

At one school, Ananda College, its Deputy Principal  Mr. W.M.C.K. Mahamithawa welcomed the delegation.

Expressing great interest in the Sinhala translation of Holy Qur’an, Mr Mahamithawa said 'Buddhists would show interest in this Holy Book, if it is translated into their own language.'

Mr Mahamithawa implied that, in general, Buddhist community really has an interest in what the Holy Qur’an says. In Sinhala language, Buddhists mostly refers to the Holy Quran as "Suddha Al Quran" – meaning, Al Qur’an – the Holy Book.

The Deputy Principal was introduced to the Jama’at and its unique feature of having a central leadership -- a 'Khalifa' -- and the community's emphasis on term ’ONE COMMUNITY – ONE LEADER’.

Mr Mahamithawa was noticeably intrigued by the Ahmadiyya motto, ‘Love For All; Hatred For None.’ He fondly repeated several times the Sinhala translation of the motto.

He was further told about the tireless efforts being made by the Khalifa about spreading the true teachings of Islam through various means, particularly addressing lawmakers at Capitol Hill, EU Parliament, in Ireland Parliament, and recently at the Dutch Parliament.

The delegation visited also a TV Station and donated copy of Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an with Peace Message in English and Sinhala.
