Peace.
A world with less fighting, less terror and more kindness is a place worth striving to create.
One group is planning to lead a discussion about creating a pathway to peace from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Henry Ford College in the Rosenau Conference Room.
Metro Detroit Muslim and Arab leaders will be on hand for “Stop the CrISIS: What is the Pathway to Peace?” to discuss potential solutions to dealing with the growing ISIS ideology.
The conference is also a chance for attendees to learn more about the history of the area, as well as get an understanding of cultural, religious and economic issues here and in the Middle East.
The evening will also be a chance for Muslims and Arabs who live in America to discuss their roles and responsibilities.
Organizers said It is now more than ever apparent that we all come together to discuss a possible solution to ending terrorism.
The symposium is free and open to the public, although reservations are recommended.
So far, several educators and imams are planning to be on hand, including Imam Yahya Luqman, regional Imam for the Midwest Region of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, Henry Ford College Professor Ali G. Awadi, Hashim Al-Tawil, a professor and chair of art history area studies, and Mansoor Qureshi, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Metro Detroit.
Organizers are also hopeful that Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad will be able to stop by, as well as other city leaders.
Mahir Osman, secretary of Public Affairs for Ahmadiyya Muslim Community - Metro Detroit said the question and answer panel has been expanded in light of recent terror attacks. There will also be a broad discussion about Youth Radicalization in the West.
