The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada condemned the terrorist attack at a university in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
According to reports, four gunmen wearing suicide vests attacked Bacha Khan University in Charsadda today killing at least 19 people including students, teachers and staff members. They also used hand grenades.
“We are deeply saddened to hear about the horrendous acts of violence in Pakistan,” said Lal Khan Malik, national president of the Ahmadiyya Jama’at. “The innocent victims of these cruel attacks and their families are in our heartfelt thoughts and prayers.”
This is the second biggest terror attack on any school in Pakistan.
In December 2014, a Taliban group attacked Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar and slaughtered 145 people, including 132 children.
Thirteen months later, Bacha Khan University, which is about 40 kilometres away from the APS, came under attack.
Pakistan’s Dawn News reports that Umar Mansoor of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (Geedar group), the mastermind of the APS attack, claimed responsibility.
Security forces managed to kill all four attackers.
