USA: Basics of Islam presentation planned at Asbury United Methodist Church


Purpose: To create productive dialogue between Christians and Muslims by providing an opportunity for people to be educated on what Islam is.

The following upcoming events take place at Asbury United Methodist Church, 340 E. Market St. and are open to the community:

Basics of Islam presentation

WHEN: 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 5

WHAT: Something like an Islam 101. Friends from the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Harrisburg will be coming to Asbury. Their youth will give a presentation on the basics of Islam and will try to clear up any misconceptions of their religion. The presentation will be followed by a short break for refreshments and conversation followed by Q&A.

WHY: To create productive dialogue between Christians and Muslims by providing an opportunity for people to be educated on what Islam is.

Cost of Poverty Experience

WHEN: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 31.

Spring Rummage Sale

WHEN: The first week of May: 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 5; 10 a .m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m, Friday, May 6; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 7.

DETAILS: On Friday evening, everything will be half-off. Pay $2 to get in on Saturday, and you can take as much as you can carry out.
