President Obama Visited a Sunni Mosque, the Islamic Society of Baltimore, not a mosque belonging to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community
In a press release issued on February 3, 2016, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA wrote, “[We] look forward to President Obama’s first mosque visit at the Islamic Society in Baltimore, MD.” Some have sought clarity on whether the Islamic Society in Baltimore is a mosque run by or affiliated with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. We wish to clarify that the Islamic Society in Baltimore is not a mosque belonging to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, nor does it have any affiliation with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
"Though there was no intent to mislead, we apologize for the confusion caused by the February 3 press release." said Dr. Nasim Rehmatullah, Senior Vice President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Community spans 206 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is among the oldest American-Muslim organizations.
