Women and children of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Hounslow visit two churches in the borough to steer interfaith harmony

Bags of groceries have been donated by the Muslim community in Hounslow to help feed struggling families in the borough.

Women from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC) filled up the boot of their car with large carrier bags full of tin cans and snacks which were handed over to St Paul’s Church foodbank on Bath Road.

The donation was part of a regular donation made to the church which supports many homeless and vulnerable people in the community.

It is also part of building good interfaith relationships between different religious groups working together in harmony, which also saw women and children from AMC welcomed to St Philip and James Church in Whitton on Saturday (March 5).

A group of 30 people visited the 19th century church where they were taken on a guided tour, explained the history and services of the church.

Bushra Bhatti, representative of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association in Hounslow South, said: “During the visit it became clear that similar to the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, the church also takes on tasks to help the community.

“For example the Christian people organise feeding homeless sessions in Richmond. Also they hold a lot of charity events to engage the wider community in the church.”

A copy of the Holy Quran was presented as a gift for the church, and members were invited to an interfaith event by Ahamdiyya Muslim Community in Baitul Wahid Mosque, Feltham.
