Imam Mohammed Zafarullah and three other members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Chino California attended an Interfaith Event last night (May 9) at the Indian Hill Village in Pomona.
The event featured faith based leaders (Christians of several denomination, Muslims, and Jews), civic leaders and university professors sharing their views on how to achieve peace by collaborating the efforts of faith based and civic leaders.
The keynote speaker was the Mayor of Pomona, Elliot Rothman who congratulated the organizers for putting together the first session of this Interfaith project.
Imam Zafarullah in his address explained that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was the first to promote Interfaith conferences with the earliest one being introduced in 1894 in Qadian, India by the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.
In that conference, Imam Said, leaders of different faiths shared their views (with attendees of other faiths) quoting from their religious texts. Since that time the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was active in all parts of the world hosting Interfaiths Conferences.
Imam Zafarullah also shared the Islamic commandment that a Muslim is required to believe in all the Prophets and Holy scriptures of all religions.
Imam stressed that faith begins at home with the parents imparting knowledge and training of their children.
The event was attended by approximately 75 individuals from all faiths and background.
