Thousands of people showed up in northeast Calgary on Sunday night for one last prayer with the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at, the Caliph, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

The Caliph was in town for a Peace Symposium Friday, which was part of his six week Canadian tour, but made an appearance at Canada’s largest mosque before heading back to the United Kingdom.

The crowd at the Baitun Nur Mosque was comprised of mostly Calgarians however, people came from all over North America to see His Holiness in Canada one last time.  He was met by a large crowd who sang, prayed and even cried in his presence.

Those at the event said it was bitter sweet; noting that it was a once in a lifetime experience to see him in person in their hometown but also sad to see him leave the country.

During his time in Canada the Caliph addressed the nation’s largest and longest-running Islamic convention, the Jalsa Salana in Toronto.

He also visited Parliament Hill where he met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other members of cabinet. He also visited mosques in places like Saskatoon and Lloydminster.

The Caliph’s visit marks the most high profile visit by a Muslim leader to Canada.
