The Chief Minister of the southwestern Pakistani province of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, announced earlier this week the arrest of two terrorists of the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) militant group.

The suspects, identified as Ishaq Bobbi and Asim Capri, were wanted for their involvement in several heinous high profile cases, including the murder of Sufi singer Amjad Sabri, killing of army men, rangers and military policemen; and firing on Shia congregation (majlis) that had left five people dead last month.

Sources close to the investigation say that the accused militants have told interrogators they had been involved in 32 more cases including killing of people of the Ahmadiyya community. The police will follow up with forensic matching, an official told a local English daily, The Frontier Post, on the condition of anonymity.

Sources further told local media that Asim Capri and Ishaq Bobby murdered 65 people in 33 incidents, including 29 policemen, four each rangers and army men.

The accused have also revealed that a former high-ranking police officer and spokesman of the Sindh police was on the militants' hit-list for his role in arrest and handing of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui to America. “The officer has always been at top of the list but couldn’t be attacked due to different reasons”.

Both men were brought before the administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court located inside the Sindh High Court (SHC), amid strong security arrangements, it was further reported.
