Thirty-five young men and boys from the Tilford, Elstead, Farnham, Haslemere, Bournemouth and Aldershot branches of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association collected £2,428.02 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal when they travelled to Wembley Stadium on October 30, where the annual NFL match was being played.
The leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Mirza Masroor Ahmad said: “Muslims are obliged to be loyal to the country in which they live. Honouring those who fought to defend and safeguard one’s country is an important principle of Islam and in fact is an important principle of peace, especially when it is carried out with a sincere heart and for the sake of winning God’s pleasure”
The group is going to Heathrow today to sell poppies and to the London Underground tomorrow.
