Imam Mohammed Zafarullah, along with 3 other representatives from The Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, attended an Interfaith Conference on Saturday November 12th in Anaheim, Los Angeles, California.
The main theme of the conference, sponsored by WAPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), was “The End of Age shown in the Religious Scriptures".
Various speakers from Christianity, Bahaism, Sunni Islam, Hinduism, WAPL and Islam Ahmadiyya represented by Imam Zafarullah addressed the audience based on what their scriptures state about the End of Age or the Latter Days.
Imam Zafarullah addressed the audience stating that many religions including Jews, Buddhist, Hindus, Christians and Muslims believe that a World Reformer would appear in the Latter Days to usher in the era of a Golden Age of mankind, for the ultimate unification of mankind. Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) prophesied that he himself would re-appear and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) had prophesied that in the latter days a Reformer would appear in two guises. One would be under the title of al-Mahdi and the other under the title of the Messiah - 'Messiah son of Maryam', that is, Christ son of Mary.
Imam Zafarullah explained that a single Reformer, according to the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, was to represent all the Reformers since a multitude of Reformers would give rise to religious conflict in the name of the same God – and that such a scenario is therefore not only untenable, but illogical.
Imam Zafarullah remarked that Heavenly signs would confirm his coming as he would be appointed by God Himself. Thus for the Mahdi (Divine Reformer) there are two signs which have never appeared before since the creation of the heavens and the earth, namely the moon will be eclipsed on the first night in Ramazan (i.e. on the first of the nights on which a lunar eclipse can occur) and the sun will be eclipsed in its middle (i.e. on the middle day of the days on which a solar eclipse can occur), and these signs have not appeared since God created the heavens and the earth.
These signs, Imam said, occurred during the advent of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Imam further state:
“Ahmadi Muslims hold the unique belief that Jesus (peace be upon him) survived the crucifixion and travelled towards India to continue his ministry among the Lost Tribes of Israel. Furthermore, his tomb, containing his body, has been recently re-discovered in India where it can be seen to this day. Ahmadi Muslims also assert that this belief is not only upheld by the Holy Quran and the Sayings of Muhammad, but even by the Holy Bible itself.”The geographic scope of Jesus' mission, Imam explained, was confined to where the Israelites lived. Jesus even said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." (Matthew 15:24). As only 2 tribes lived in Jerusalem area, Jesus had to travel to the countries where the other 10 tribes were found and this include Afghanistan and India where he subsequently lived, preached, died and was buried in Srinagar, Kashmir, India.
In regards to prophesies stated in the Quran as proofs of what will occur in the Latter Days, (which has already occurred in the current age), Imam Zafarullah quoted the fist 10 verses of Chapter 81 of the Holy Quran as follows:
"When the sun is wrapped up. And when the stars are obscured. And when the mountains are made to move. And when the female camels ten months pregnant are abandoned. And when the beasts are gathered together. And when the seas are made to flow forth into one another. And when the people are brought together. And when the girl child buried alive is asked. For what crime she was killed. And when books are spread abroad. And when the heaven is laid bare. And when the Fire is caused to blaze up. And when the Garden is brought nigh. Then every soul will know what it has brought forward."
Imam Zafarullah concluded that the proofs outlined were all taken from the Islamic scriptures and were not based on his personal opinion or understanding. He also addressed, very satisfactorily, to a number of other questions which were asked to him during the conference.
