The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria has urged political leaders in the country to as matter of urgency fulfill all promises made to the electorate rather than “exploiting people’s religious, ethnic and other primordial sentiments for selfish reasons.”
It made the call in a communiqué issued at the end of its centenary celebration and annual conference, held in Ilaro, Ogun State.
According to the Islamic organisation, it has become incumbent for leaders to separate religion from politics, so as to avoid blighting the doctrines.
“Political leaders in Nigeria should be sincere with promises they made with the people to better their lot when they get to political office, rather than exploiting them for their selfish interests,” a part of the communiqué read.
The Jamaat further that appealed to all Nigerians and political leaders to spread the gospel of love against hate.
