'Work done by Spen Valley AMYA had given everyone at the Home a boost'
Members of the Spen Valley branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) helped prepare a Birstall nursing home for the Tour De Yorkshire.
They put up bunting, tidied and decorated the outside of Priestley Care Home and painted a bicycle yellow in readiness for the Tour which takes place between 28 and 30 April. The third leg of the Tour, on Sunday 30 April, passes through Birstall right outside the nursing home.
They were joined by local MP for Batley and Spen – Mrs Tracy Brabin – who met residents of the Nursing home and discussed the work of the AMYA with local team leader – Mr Manzoor Ahmad.
The Spen Valley branch of AMYA have worked with Priestley Gardens over the last few months on various projects including looking after the gardens of the Home. Mr Manzoor Ahmad explained that service to humanity is an integral part of the faith of all Ahmadi Muslims and they are taught from a young age that they should help others irrespective of their background or faith.
Mrs Brabin thanked and congratulated AMYA members for the work that they are doing locally and also praised their motto of Love For All Hatred For None.
Home Manager, Shelley Ellam, also praised the work of AMYA and stated that the Home often relies on volunteers to make sure that the gardens and grounds are well maintained. She also stated that the visit of Tracy Brabin and the work done by Spen Valley AMYA had given everyone at the Home a boost for which she was very thankful.
