A man has been arrested after a decapitated pig’s head was left outside a mosque in Queensland, Australia.

The severed head was left at the front gate of a mosque in Stockleigh, south of Brisbane, on Monday.

A 23-year old man from Victoria Point has since been arrested, according to 7 News.

The man was arrested after photos were posted to social media showing two men outside the mosque’s gate pulling shocking gestures.

The incident sparked outrage among Muslim leaders, including the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community who said it was a ‘disturbing sight’.

The community’s spokesman Zaid Baig said that though it was shocking and insulting, they were considering it a gift.

He told the Sydney Morning Herald: ‘We would be delighted to return the favour by having a heart-to-heart over a delicious meal.

‘Even though an investigation is ongoing, we earnestly encourage the person who may have left the animal’s head at the mosque to contact us and get to know the community.’

Mr Baig added that pigs are not considered to be cursed under the Muslim faith and that they would be able to eat pig’s meat if it was a matter of life or death.
