Cape Coast - Muslims in the Cape Coast Metropolis, both the young and the elderly, on Friday defied an early morning rain to mark this year's Edi-ul-Adha celebration at their various prayer grounds.
Eid-ul-Adha is a Muslim festival of sacrifice, which is celebrated two months after the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr to honour the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham who obeyed Allah's command to sacrifice his son, Ishmael.
For that display of commitment and obedience to Allah's command, Allah exchanged that sacrifice with a sheep.
Mulvi Abdul Nasir Bhatti, the Central Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, urged Muslims to be ready to sacrifice their wealth, time and resources for the sake of Allah.
Reading verses from the Holy Quran and the Hadith, he said the sacrifice of Abaham meant that Allah was not interested in human sacrifices in any form and called on members to disabuse their minds that Allah accepted human sacrifice in this age.
“Let us use this Eid-ul-Adha to once again reunite with one another and with Allah so that we can enjoy peaceful-co-existence,” he added.
