India: Darwesh wife Khurshida Ruqaiyya passed away, buried at Bahishti Maqbra Qadian

Her maternal Grandfather belongs to Mirza Ghalib ancestral root. Her mother’s grandfather was Mirza Kabir Uddin Sahib who was the first to spread the message of Ahmadiyyat in Lucknow by using a ‘takhti’ or a slab with the words “Messiah has come”written on it.

Qadian -- Khurshida Ruqaiyya, wife of Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Ghanokay Jajja, Darwesh Qadian passed away in a private hospital in Amritsar on Friday 1st September 2017. She was admitted at EMC hospital Amritsar on 22nd august after infection complaint. She took her last breath on 1st September, Friday at 9PM in  the hospital.

Her Namaz-E-Janaza (funeral) prayer was offered by Maulana Mohammad Inam Ghori Chief Secretary Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Qadian at 5PM on 2nd September at Bahishti Maqbra Qadian. After the Namaz-E-Janaza Prayer she was buried at Bahishti Maqbra. After the completion of Grave Maulana Mohammad Inam Ghori took his hand for silent prayer joined by a large number of people present.

The attendees of the funeral were a mixture of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christian. Khurshida Ruqaiyya was a pious lady who was orphaned at the age of 6 years. She was married at 14 since she was looked after by elderly grandparents who feared their own death and the welfare of this child. She did not get a chance to have any further education but was an intelligent, selfless, ever caring, funny, brave lady who was loved and respected by all that got to know her. This was seen due to the numbers gathered at her funeral. She will be truly missed. She passed away peacefully and is now taken lovingly in arms by her Creator. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajeoon ( To God we belong, and to Him we shall return).

She has left behind 2 daughters, 2 son and 10 grandchildren. All her children were present from the time of her hospitalisation and till her death. Her eldest daughter Saleema Yadullah Bhunnoo arrived from London with her husband Ahmad Yadullah Bhunnoo. Her youngest daughter Dr Attiya tul Quddoos, served 25 years as a volunteer homoeopath in Qadian and arrived from Paris with her husband Abdullah Tabou where she also volunteers for the jamaat. Her sons Ch. Maqbool Ahmad Journalist and Ch.Mansoor Ahmad Ghanokay who is Halqa Darul Anwaar Zaeem of Majlis Ansarullah Qadian live in Qadian with their wives and children. Her sons also serve the jamaat at various capacities which include writing news for jamaat.

Khurshida Ruqaiyya was born on the 15th March 1941 in Varanasi. Her father was Mr. Abdul Hakeem and mother name was Mushida Begum. Her grandfather was Khan Sahib Abdul Aleem, who was honored by the British Government with the title of Khan Sahib because of his excellent services during his duty in Kumbh Mela at Haridawar, which was participated by millions of people. Her maternal Grandfather belongs to Mirza Ghalib ancestral root. Her mother’s grandfather was Mirza Kabir Uddin Sahib who was the first to spread the message of Ahmadiyyat in Lucknow by using a ‘takhti’ or a slab with the words “Messiah has come”written on it. Khurshida Ruqayya spent her entire life in Qadian after her marriage with Maulana Sahib. She patiently went with him around the country for Maulana Sahibs jamaat works in which some places, she had to go through a lot of harsh conditions, which included in her having miscarriage due to maltreatment by some people due to their superstitious beliefs due to lack of true Islam. She always reminded her children and grandchildren that we should always volunteer our time for jamaat and never take a penny from jamaat. She always believed in being the upper hand that gives and never the one that takes. The news of her death reached far and wide especially after Indian newspapers published the news of her demise, with masses of visitors reaching her house in Qadian.

The visitors included Cabinet Minister Tripat Rajinder Singh, Bibi Charanjit Kaur Bajwa Ex-MLA (Congress Party), Dr. Barjinder Singh Hamdard Ex Rajya Sabha Member and Chief Editor Daily Ajit Group, Gursharanjeet Kaur Ajit Group, Jarnail Singh Mahal President Municipal Committee Qadian, Ashok Kumar Vice President Municipal Committee, Dr Balcharan Singh Bhatia,Congress Leader Bibi Pareet Kaur Bajwa (Wife of Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa MLA Qadian), Balwinder Singh Mintu Bajwa PA to Fateh Bajwa, Mini Sikh Parliament Shri Guru Dwara Parbandhak Committee member Jathedar Gurinderpal Singh Gora, Kamal Jyoti BJP state executive member, Surinder Kumar Pappi Sharma District Vice President Congress Party, Gagandeep Singh Bhatia Municipal Councilor, Shaiby Bhatia Ex-Vice President Municipal council Qadian, Ramesh Nayyar vice president Shiv Sena Balthakray, Social activist Mr. Azad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Bhatti Secretary Ahmadiyya Jamat, Mohammad Nasim Khan Secretary Ahmadiyya Jamat, K Tarique Ahmad Spokesman Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Qadian. A large number of local and state leaders expressed their grief with the family of the deceased one.
