A bright 16-year old Christian high school student has been lynched to death by his fellow students at a school in Vehari, a town in Punjab, Pakistan.

Masih was beaten to death by several students on Aug. 27, his fourth day at the school. He died on the spot, inside the classroom as the teacher watched.

"You're a Christian; don't you dare sit with us if you want to live," a Muslim student had once told the victim, Sharoon Masih, who was studying at MC Model Boys Government High School in the Vehari area in Punjab, according to the British Pakistani Christian Association (BPCA), which has reported on the killing.

The attacking students were shouting insults at him while beating him, but no teacher or school staff stepped forward to his rescue.

Sharoon's mother Riaz Bibi told BPCA Sharoon was warned by his peers not to mix with the Muslims at his school.

One boy is believed to have told him not to sit with him 'if you want to live'. Many boys called Sharoon a 'chura,' a derogatory term against Christians. As the intimidation went on, there were repeated attempts to convert him to Islam that Sharoon refused.
