Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at-The Gambia on Monday donated 5 bags of rice, 2 bags of onion, 4 canisters of 5 liter cooking oil, three school bags and cloths to three victim families of fire disaster in Tallinding.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the victims’ compound in Tallinding, Ebrima Mbowe, Deputy Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at-The Gambia, said the gesture was minimal to them as it was donated on a short notice, but they hope it would be useful to the families.
He said the victims are their neighbours and neighbourliness was so important that they should come to their aid on time during their call of need.
He urged people to praise Allah at all times, saying that fire and rain related disasters are occurring across the country; hence they should try to manage them since people have live with them.
“We hope Allah will get some things better than what you lost in the fire disaster,” he told victims. He thanked God as there was no loss of life in the incident.
They could regain what they lost in the fire incident, he told victims, while he called on the people to help each other.
Sira Faye, Lady Councilor for Tallinding commended the Jama’at for the gesture, saying Allah would reward them for their good deeds.
Despite the disaster, Ms Faye said they were pleased to receive a helping hand.
Buba Kandeh, a relative of one of the victims thanked the Jama’at, saying they are pleased in receiving a helping hand.
He then urged the victims to take heart.
