Ahmadiyya communities run for good cause and raise donations for charity

For years Ahmadiyya communities in the region have been committed to society. They not only fulfill a religious duty, they also show their will for integration. With a donation run, the city council now raised funds for the schools of the municipality and for relief organizations.

The Ahmadiyya communities are especially known for cleaning the streets of the New Year's Fireworks on New Year's Day. Less well-known is that many members of the youth organization always visit senior citizens in dormitories. In this context, the mosques repeatedly point out that it is a religious duty of Islam to help its fellow human beings, and especially to serve their host country.

About 100 participants followed the call of the municipality. For the children a distance of about 1000 meters had been measured, the youths and adults had to travel four kilometers. As Rafique Khawaja, spokesman for the municipality, explained, the routes did not have to be covered. Walking or walking was also allowed. "It is about the joint movement for a good cause," he summarized the motto "encounter - running - helping".

The vast majority of the participants were from Ahmadiyya communities, also from the wider area. Apparently the invitation had reached only a few German participants. Comedian Boris Meinzer was not allowed to participate, although he had only learned a few days ago about the donation. "It was clear that I had to go there," he explained after the finish line. "I can manage four kilometers, even if I'm not so sporty."

On the other hand, Norbert Vogt, who was by far the fastest goal, took the lead. He was thus not only the winner of the 46 men over 40 years, but also faster than the 34 men between the ages of 12 and 40 who took part in the race.

Khawaja was particularly pleased that he was able to welcome the chairman of the men's organization to the donation race for over 40 years of the Ahmadiyya communities, Iftikhar Ahmed. Khawaja emphasized the loyalty to Germany. "In today's time, when many cultures come to Germany, it is important that we find each other and appreciate the advantages that we find here." He specifically mentioned freedom of speech and education.

Manfred Scheid-Varisco also participated in this initiative as a representative of the initiative "Democracy Living" in Büdingen and Altenstadt. He praised the efforts of the Ahmadiyya community "to promote dialogue and understanding between cultures and religions". Sport is particularly suitable for this. "The classical integration obstacles such as language, cultural competencies and knowledge, as well as social discrimination do not matter," he explained. "Recognition takes place through sporting performance."

The mayor, Norbert Syguda, took up this issue to win the victory and to hand over donations. The good partnership with Beauchamps and Kazimierza Wielka shows that it is possible to overcome historical enmities. He praised the Ahmadiyya community for practicing social integration. Khawaja added that this successful integration also involves participating in democracy. He urged the members of the community to inform themselves about the political objectives of the parties and to use their right to vote.

Jörg Wolf, who received a check for 500 euros as chairman of the support association of the Limesschule, praised the integration efforts of the Ahmadiyya community. "Your students with us at the Limesschule enjoy an excellent reputation." The donation is supposed to be bought tablet computers.

For the Janusz Korczak school, head teacher Carola Hoen and sports teacher Anke Fißler received a check for 500 euros. This donation will be used in a cultural exchange project to mark the 60th anniversary of the school next year. Another donation went to Humanity First (200 euros). Khawaja explained that it is a tradition to donate charity walks to the global charity organization. A check over 300 euros Syguda accepted for the foundation "citizens help citizens" the municipality. At his suggestion, Khawaja promised to organize another charity event next year, "maybe with a little more resonance in Altenstadt".
