"We are all Germany"
The Muslim community Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat launches an information campaign in Dahme-Spreewald next week. The prelude is on November 18th in Königs Wusterhausen. Further locations are Lübben, Luckau and Mittenwalde. Also a public discussion event is planned.
"We want to break down prejudices and get into conversation with the people," said spokesman Suleman Malik on Thursday in Königs Wusterhausen.
According to Malik, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at is a reform movement within Islam. It categorically rejects violence and argues for a peaceful coexistence.
In Germany, however, with around 45,000 members, it is only a minority among the four to five million Muslims, as Malik said. Worldwide, however, it has followers in tens of millions.
The motto of the campaign is "We are all Germany".
Malik said it is intended to express the solidarity and social commitment of the community members. The pillars of the movement are mercy, the rejection of the obligation to believe, the equal rights of men and women and the separation of religion and state.
"Love for all, hatred for none, that's our message," said Suleman Malik.
His congregation also interprets the holy war, the so-called jihad, differently. "We define that as a fight against your own inner devil. "So-called peace trees are to be planted at the events in the municipalities.
With this action, the community wanted to show that there are many directions in Islam. The public image is characterized by terrorist attacks in the name of Islam.
"Many people can not tell that. We want to change that, "Malik said.
The municipality had already carried out the information campaigns successfully in other federal states. The response had been consistently positive.
Dates for the information Campaign
The Muslim community Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat wants to go public with an information booth. The stand is on 18 November in the King Wusterhausen city center from 10 clock all day.
The other dates: 25 November Lübben, 2 December Luckau, 9 December Mittenwalde.
There is not yet an time and a place for the planned discussion.
