Two major charities will be presented with a cheque by a Muslim women’s group during a coffee morning fundraiser in Cheam on Friday (November 10).

The women's association of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community will be hosting the charity event, with all the money raised going to The Royal British Legion and Macmillan.

This event is one of several coffee mornings held this year across member’s homes by the association, which has invited people from across the world.

Hosting the event is Sajeela Ahmad, 33, from Sutton, who said: “We will be showing that we are very integrated and looking to make a positive impact on society.

“It is very important in this current climate.

“It's a great way of gathering women from all walks of life together, while raising money for those in need.”

Attendees will share a range of food from South India, Poland to the Czech Republic, and a representative of the British Legion will be attending to give a talk on the charity.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community was established in the UK in 1913 and holds a history of fundraising for British charities, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds since its inception.
