One of the longest running Muslim conventions in New Zealand, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s annual ‘Jalsa Salana’, will be held in Auckland on the 26th and 27th of January 2018.

Started by the community’s founder Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam AhmadAS as a small gathering of the Ahmadi Muslims in India over a hundred years ago, the annual convention is now held in several countries worldwide attracting thousands of guests from across the globe.

‘The Jalsa Salana is a unique event with great significance in our community’s history. While its primary purpose remains to enhance the connection of man with his Creator, it also serves to bring our members together from across the country and beyond’, says Mr Bashir Khan, President of AMJNZ. ‘This coming together of people from diverse backgrounds develops a sense of belonging and brotherhood that is unique to our community worldwide.’

A special session to be held at 11 am on Saturday the 27th January will be open to guests from all faiths. The event thus forms part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community’s efforts to encourage dialogue and to increase understanding between all faith groups.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in Punjab, India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 210 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Its motto of ‘Love for all and hatred for none’ is evidenced through the peaceful actions of its millions of followers. The New Zealand branch of this community was established in 1987. It is a registered charitable organisation and endeavors to be an active and integrated community within New Zealand society.
