The Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association (AMWA) in Spen Valley (an Auxiliary organisation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community) visited Batley Parish Church to celebrate Interfaith Harmony Week on Wednesday 7 February 2018.
The Purpose of Interfaith Harmony Week is to recognise the need for dialogue among different faiths and to encourage and support interfaith harmony and goodwill.
Mrs Rashda Ahmad, Outreach Coordinator for the AMWA in Spen Valley, said “The World Interfaith Harmony Week provides a platform when all interfaith groups can show the world what a powerful movement they are. The common values they hold far outweigh the differences they have.”
The Reverend Dr Martin Naylor, Priest in Charge of Batley Parish Church, said “It was a joy to host the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association members. Candles at the Church were lit as a symbol of our working together to promote peace and unity”.
After the service members of the AMWA joined church members for refreshments including samosas, cakes and biscuits brought as gifts from the AMWA. Literature was also exchanged between the groups.
