Plans to stage a 'walk for peace' in the Great Park were given a boost at a special dinner on Saturday held to launch the event.
The dinner held at Bishopsgate School in Englefield Green gave people planning to join the walk a chance to meet members of the Ahmadiyya Muslin Elders Association (AMEA) who have organised it.
It was one of a number of dinners arranged across the UK leading up to the walk which will take place on April 29 in Windsor Great Park in association with Runnymede Borough Council.
There were three mayors at the dinner - from Runnymede, Elmbridge and Spelthorne - as well as Major Frankie Howells representing the Army and The Army Benevolent Fund, one of the Mayors' charities.
The Mayor of Runnymede Cllr Iftikhar Chaudhri said: "I am truly honoured to be able to host this wonderful annual charity event in this historic borough. I know it will be a great success helping lots of charities in Runnymede and beyond.”
Community groups, charities, schools and supporting organisations are all expected to take part in the walk, raising funds for hundreds of deserving charities across Runnymede and the UK.
Dr Ijazur Rehman, President of AMEA UK said: "The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s long-standing motto is ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’ and this walk will epitomise the very essence of this, where people of different religions and race come together under one umbrella for a common cause of building a better world."
The walk will start from Savill Court Hotel, Wick Lane, Englefield Green at 9am.
