The Holy month of Ramadhan brought the good news of the start of the construction of Minar (Minaret) of Masjid Mahmood, in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
On May 17, 2018, after the Dars-ul-Quran, a brief ceremony was organized by Detroit Jama’at.
Property Sec Zahid Munir and Mr. Mushnish of Mushnish Construction company led by Imam Shamshad Nasir, Sadr Jama’at Dr. Mansoor Qureshi, members of the Jama’at to the Minaret site.
President Mr Qureshi and Munir Zahid secretary property along with the contractor provided details on the construction plan, timeline, and logistics for the construction of the Minaret.
Imam Shamshad Nasir started the groundbreaking with the shovel as the official beginning of the Minaret construction. Later Sadr Jama’at and members participated in the groundbreaking. Imam Shamshad Nasir said that today is truly a very happy occasion for the entire Detroit Jama’at that Allah has Granted us the opportunity to start the construction of the Minaret.
Imam Shamshad Nasir briefly mentioned the significance of Minaret in the Islamic tradition and prayed that this minaret which will be similar in design as the Minaret-ul-Masih of Qadian, India, because that minaret at the birthplace of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community become the source of inspiration for the Jama’at and it makes them attached to the Mosque.
Later, Imam Shamshad Nasir led the silent prayers which concluded the ceremony and everyone proceeded to the Mosque for the breaking the fast.
