The Deputy Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, Maulvi Muhammad Yusuf Yawson, has called on Ghanaians, especially Muslims, to live in harmony with one other.

Consequently, he advised Muslims to endeavour to resolve their differences amicably. Maulvi Yawson gave the admonition yesterday in a sermon to mark their year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration at the mission’s prayer centre at Ashongman, near Accra, where he led the prayers in absence of Maulvi Wahab Adam, the Ameer who is in the United States of America on official duty.

Maulvi Yawson noted that the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha and the performance of the Hajj, foster a sense of equality in the year of God. He emphasised that in the environment where there was no peace and harmony, injustice was perpetuated which often resulted in conflicts and wars.

Maulvi Yawson said the celebration, called for sacrifice and alms giving, especially to the underprivileged, and the poor, to make the celebration meaningful. “If we fail to ensure their right to share in the food, drinks and happiness of the joyous festival then it means we are not fulfilling the requirements of this important celebration”, he said.

Maulvi Yawson said that the objective of the Hajj and Eid was to enable believers to imbibe the moral values of prophets and pious men of God and to impart those values to society in general.
He thanked the government for the immense assistance for this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca.

Maulvi Yawson used the occasion to commend farmers and fishermen ahead of this year’s Farmers’ Day celebration for sustaining the country through food production.
